Q. With the increase of new digital media available online, the role of the library has become obsolete. Therefore universities should only procure digital materials rather than constantly update textbooks. Discuss both the advantages and disadvantages of this position and give your own point of view.

A.

The controversial topic concerning increasing of new digital media never fails to attract public attention.

There has been a heated debate on whether universities should only procure digital materials rather than constantly update textbooks can provide the benefits to society.

In this essay, I shall elaborate on my point of view by analysing both sides of the argument before deducing a proper conclusion.

First of all, it is quite reasonable for me to believe that the idea of promoting digital materials can provide several merits.

The first point with regards to the issue is that the benefits of digital materials have contributed to the advancement of the subject.

Being cost-effective and easy to manage would be a convincing example to name but a few.

As a result, it could be beneficial for both old and new generations across the world.

In contrast, it is commonly known as the fact that procuring only digital materials can provide harm to our communities.

Nevertheless, this statement does hold water to some extent.

Moreover, it should be pointed out that there are various disadvantages, such as that we cannot get various insights.

Furthermore, these examples can be significant factors that ought to be considered.

In conclusion, due to the aforementioned reasons, we may safely conclude that the negative impacts of digital materials far outweigh the merits.

Therefore, I strongly recommend keeping this trend to take careful steps to mitigate the potential problems.
